A flame-pelted she-cat sat beside the waterfall, doing nothing but gazing at the water cascading down into the river. Her green eyes were full of emotion. Excitement, joy, sadness, and anticipation made her heart twist and her head whirl.
Braveheart had asked her mate, Venompool, to meet her here at the waterfall with her son, Sabresoul. The well-built warrior she-cat had something to tell them, something that made her want to jump for joy. But for now, she waited, patient and silent, her gaze fixed on the curtain of water, for her mate and her son to arrive.

Two long-bodied mocha-colored Warrior twins strode quietly across the sand, both of their eyes lost in thought. What was it that Braveheart wanted to tell them? Was it good? Was it bad? They didn't know. They had no idea at all. Sabresoul looked over the reeds. His mother sat by the waterfall, and his eyes caught hers almost instantly. He could hardly read her emotions. They were so mixed. Venompool was looking at his paws. He wondered if he'd done something wrong.

Seeing her mate and kit, Braveheart padded up to where they stood, a little way down the riverbank from the waterfall. "First, before I say what I need most to tell you, I will say this: neither of you has done anything wrong, but what I have to tell you is for your ears and minds alone." Her mew was not in any way loud, but it was purposeful and solemn. The flame-coloured she-cat directed her green gaze at Sabresoul and Venompool, waiting for them to agree or disagree.

For both of them, a look of relief came over their Bengal faces. "Okay, then... What is it, my beloved?" Venompool asked. That definitely narrowed down the two toms' thoughts. Sabresoul almost instantly looked like he knew, after glancing over his mother. She said nothing, but somehow he knew what she would say. He couldn't tell whether he was happy for her or angry that she'd done what she did. No, he couldn't be angry, no matter what. His mother was probably happy.

Braveheart smiled blissfully for a moment. She knew what every she-cat who has and is a mother knows: raising kits is no easy task. But when she looked back and remembered the terrible day of Sabrestripe's death, which shortly after became the day of Sabresoul's birth, the flame-pelted warrior felt that compared to raising even one kit on one's own, raising kits with a mate would be simple and easy.
Sighing deeply, Braveheart turned back to the present. She studied the looks on both the toms' faces. The she-cat knew that they may have guessed already, and Sabresoul, for one, had reasons to be unhappy about it. Making an effort, she looked hard into the two pairs of eyes, exactly the same shade of green as her own, and spoke. " Well, in about half a moon from now, I will be having kits." It wasn't precisely the way she'd meant to say it, but what was said could not be unsaid. She waited, almost apprehensively, for her son and Venompool's reactions.

Venompool let out a yowl of excitement and launched himself at Braveheart, mauling her with purrs and licks and fierce nuzzles. "That's great, Braveheart! Wow, I mean, really... I've never been a father before, but I swear I'll do my best for you! Why'd you wait so long to tell us, love?" His eyes were wide and glowing, and clearly he'd taken the news well, but Sabresoul's face remained emotionless. He looked away, out past his mother and to the waterfall, still not speaking a word.

Braveheart's eyes brightened and her heart lifted a little at Venompool's reaction. She gave his ear a swift lick before replying. "I wanted to be sure of myself before telling you, darling," she purred. "I was so nervous, at first." Her emerald eyes gazed earnestly into his. After a moment, her gaze flickered to Sabresoul. He was staring out at the waterfall silently. The flame-pelted Abyssinian wondered guiltily if her so felt that she'd betrayed him somehow.

"There was no reason to be nervous, Braveheart. You have me and Sabresoul. We'll help you as much as we can, in any way you need. Right, Sabresoul?" the tom mewed excitedly, looking over at Sabresoul. The young Warrior simply nodded and breathed in slowly, then let it out quickly. Venompool frowned slightly and raised his eyebrow. Venompool nuzzled Braveheart's ear and whispered, "Everything has changed so quickly for him. You have a new mate, and you'll be having my kits. I'm sure he'll get used to it."

Braveheart nodded. "I hope he will." She touched her nose to Venompool's cheek with a grateful half-smile. Leaning over, she murmured into his ear, "I'm just a little worried about him."

Venompool looked curiously into Braveheart's eyes. "Why are you worried, love?" Venompool glanced over his shoulder to see Sabresoul staring blankly off into the distance, lost in thought, or maybe just lost. Venompool didn't understand why he'd be this way.

Braveheart stole another glance at Sabresoul, before turning back to her mate. "I really didn't think he'd react quite like this," she murmured, sadness in her eyes. "I wonder if he feels betrayed by me. I wouldn't blame him if he did."

"I doubt that's it at all, angel... Like I said, everything's changing on him all of a sudden. He needs time to adjust. It's been almost exactly a moon since he became a Warrior, and only about two since you and I became mates..." Venompool reasoned softly, pressing his muzzle against Braveheart's firmly to keep her close.

Braveheart closed her eyes for a moment. "I'm sure you're right," the flame-pelted she-cat meowed, purring quietly. "Thank you, Venompool." She felt reassured by his words, and she leaned agaist her mate for a moment.

"Of course," Venompool replied softly, closing his eyes and enjoying the soothing presence of his beloved. Then he pulled away, turning to look at Sabresoul. The young tom sat up and stared steadily at the elder Warrior. Venompool meowed to Sabresoul, "Well, this is quite exciting, don't you think, Sabresoul?"
Ooc: Oh, wow, wouldn't it be awesome if Sabresoul and his half-brother or something hated each other? XD

OOC: Heh, what an evil idea!
BIC: Braveheart blinked once and turned to gaze calmly at her son. She wondered what his reaction would be, and hoped it would be positive. All I want is for you and Venompool to be happy, the flame-furred she-cat thought, almost pleadingly.
