ooc:: ssry bout doublepsting! o.o won't happen again
The stars of moonhigh glistened beautifully, and peacefully. But below them, it was anything but beautiful or peacefull. The trees were naked, their bare branches stretching up to the heavens as if there was some animosity between them. And all around, snow covered the dark, never-ending forest and leaving a deep cold that brought a chill to more than the bones but the heart itself. And with a wounded heart, the cold seemed to ice it over and crack, leaving it broken.
Sasha's heart was wounded, thus it was broken. Her will had shattered long before the stars appeared in the sky. A gust of d**nable wind pushed through the roots of the tree she took shelter in and pulled her fur backwards, chilling her so that it stung. She buried her nose deep in her paws and closed her blue eyes, though that didn't help much at all. The tag on her coller had become silver ice penetrating her fur and chilling her neck. The ground itself was solid and cold as ice. It was nothing like her bed back at home. She longed to sit in her warm cushion by the window watching the night fall all over the neighborhood...
That dog... If it wasn't for that dog chasing her out of the house...
Pulling her tail closer to her body, her shivering almost became violent. Her tag jingled with each lurch that she made. This must be what it feels like to freeze to death... she thought with slight panic. I can't fall asleep, no matter how bad it gets, I CANNOT go to sleep! She knew that if her eyes closed, they may never open again.
"T-t-this c-cannot b-b-be happening," she whispered, feeling temporarily relief of the warmth of her breath on her paws. But, almost as if on purpose, a freezing gust of wind pushed itself inside and tugged at her fur again.
This is it... it's over, isn't it!? Her blue eyes looked up to the peacefull stars above as if searching desperatly for an answer. "Help," she barely whispered. A part of her thought this was foolish to do, but most of the sane part of her was left back home, where her owners where probably missing her. Her heart lurched with sadness. "Please... please help me..." her voice cracked. She looked down at her paws again, tears falling freely down her cheeks with no control over them whatsoever. She sobbed quietly to herself as she remembered all the good days back at her owner's home: when they allowed her onto their bed some nights, how they treated her with kindness everyday, how they always pet her on her cheeks... she used to love that. It was all gone now. She would never see them again.
Suddenly, a twig snapped. Sasha's head jerked upwards, and appearing out of thick brambles was a group of cats. To her horror, they were heading straight towards her. "Oh no..."

Sorrowsleave's breath floated in front of him - a warm puff of air in the cold night. He was patrolling, unusually late in the night, and had managed to take a few warriors with him, Goldenfire included. His paws crunched on top of the snow as he walked, leaving shallow prints behind him. The moon lit his way, and he blinked. Bare trees stretched ahead of him, and somewhere in the distance, he heard the flowing of the river.
Goldenfire walked alongside the new warrior, shivering in his fur. The den was nice and warm, and his nest was more towards the middle, where it was even warmer. He couldn't believe Sorrowsleave had talked him out of leaving it. He glanced sideways at the other tom, but Sorrowsleave didn't seem to notice. The warrior was staring straight ahead. Goldenfire's mind wandered, remembering when he had found the new warrior. Sorrowsleave had been a tiny kit, left in the reeds beside the river. Goldenfire had carried him back to camp, and it had bewildered him - it still did - that the younger cat had been scentless. There was no hint of his past life. It didn't seem as though Sorrowsleave knew anything either. A loud crack rang out in the still air, and Goldenfire cringed, looking over at Sorrowsleave. "Great. Now you've just about awakened ThunderClan and WindClan."
Sorrowsleave shrugged apologetically in response, lifting his paw. His fur was tangled in the brambles the pair had been pushing through. He paused, paw still in the air, and sniffed. There was a new scent, like another cat. He looked around, lowering his paw and unsheathing his claws. Then he saw her. A loner, no, wait, was that a collar around her neck?! A kittypet! Sorrowsleave had heard of them, but so far had had the fortune not to run into any. He was wary of the Twolegs that owned kittypets, and scented the air. This she-cat seemed to be alone, but Twoleg scent, and that of a dog, filled the air around her. He bounded down the slight slope to her, Goldenfire at his side. The tom stopped a few tail-lengths away.
"Who are you?" Goldenfire growled. His claws were unsheathed too, and he was prepared to fight, though he didn't think he'd have to. This kittypet looked cold and lost. Her body language didn't appear hostile, and he tried to do the same. He didn't want to scare her, but he didn't necessarily want to get to know her. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" He repeated, a little softer.

Sasha stared in the cats direction in horror. She didn't dare to blink her eyes. She heard tales of the forest cats from her friends back home and how they possessed frightening speed. They could suddenly run up to her without her even noticing and kill her on the spot. That very thought made her terrified. Her heart pounded out of her chest. She wasn't going to freeze to death... She was going to be killed!
"Who are you?" one of them growled at her. They talked as if she was trespassing on their home. Was it? Sasha didn't know, or care, she just had to get away!. A reckless idea came to her: Pretend to come in quietly, then run away and never come back to this part of the forest again!... No. It was stupid, she concluded almost immediatly.
They repeated their question, a little more gently this time, but it didn't sooth Sasha one bit. She gathered up the last of her courage and meowed, "Sasha," to the first question. The second question was hard to answer. What could she say? They looked about ready to kill her anyways, so what was the point? She closed her eyes and answered anyways.
"I... I..." Words failed her. Another gust of wind pulled at her fur and another convulsing shiver possessed her again. "I w-w-was ch-chased out of m-my house by a dog!" She looked up at them again, "And n-now I'm here!" She shifted her hind paws, ready to pounce away if they charged at her. She slightly unsheathed her claws to, but she saw that her claws were much too blunt compared to the other two cats. Their claws looked thorn-sharp. She gulped apprehensively, but attempted to keep her face straight.

Sorrowsleave glanced back at Goldenfire, then back at Sasha. She looked terrified of them, and that made him feel guilty. This cat had done nothing wrong, so why were they scaring her so badly? He let his fur lie flat, before responding softly, "It's alright. We're not going to hurt you, if that's what you're thinking." He saw her unsheathe her own claws and noted that they were soft and not very dangerous.
Goldenfire looked at Sorrowsleave as the other tom spoke, attempting to soothe the she-cat. "You were chased by dogs?" That explained the dog scent around her. "What were they doing this late? Dogs are usually lazy... More importantly, did any of them follow you? You would not be thought of highly by RiverClan if you had lead dogs into our territory," He growled. The wind blew his golden fur, and he shivered a little, but he didn't want Sasha to notice.
"Oh," Sorrowsleave started, "I'm sorry. I'm Sorrowsleave, and this is Goldenfire. We're both warriors from RiverClan... You've heard of RiverClan, right?" He asked after a moment's hesitation. He relaxed his muscles more, though noticed that Goldenfire remained tense, unrelaxed. Had he a bad history with kittypets?
Goldenfire hoped she hadn't lead the dogs to RiverClan. He thought back to that day he had shared with Honeystream, when the dogs had appeared. He carefully scented the air, singling out the dog scent. It didn't appear to be getting any stronger, but the wind wasn't really in their favor. He couldn't be sure.

Sorrowsleave and... Goldenfire? What weird names. And what in the world was RiverClan? "I'm s-sorry, I've n-never heard of... RiverClan," she meowed. She turned to the one called Goldenfire, "My owners had bought an obnoxious dog a couple days ago, and that day it ran me out of the house. I l-lost it s-somwhere in the w-w-woods. I c-c-cant say where, th-though. I've n-never been in the woods." She glanced all around her as if an animal were about to pop out of nowhere and attack her. She looked at her paws in sadness, thinking about the past. "My friends have always told me about cats that live in the forest." She'd rather not go into detail about the things they've said... none of them were actually good.
She looked back up at them. They were noticably more calm now, which helped her anxiety alot, but Goldenfire still looked tense. It made her nervous. In fact, they both were muscular, which made them very intimadating. Far more muscular than the cats that lived back home... and much thinner. Their coats were unusually glossy and thick as well. Was this what all the forest cats looked like? And how many were there?
She looked away from them, still a little frightened by this whole experience and tucked in her paws once again. She felt reassured that they weren't going to attack, but this was the woods... you never know what could be out there. "I'm sorry I trespassed." she mewed quietly. Her belly suddenly growled louder than it had ever done in her life. She sighed in embarrasment. She must look pathetically weak and defenseless in front of them. She wished she were home. She didn't think she'd ever wished so hard in her life.

Streamsoul had been awakened by some sounds coming from the far border. Streamsoul had always been good at hearing and listening. Streamsoul lifted his eyes to the star-light sky in hopes that they would become quiet. No luck, he thought. He got up feeling the cold wind chill him. He padded off in search of the sounds that were rattling him.
The moon was out guiding him to the destination. He was never one for the sun except for its warmth, but even then the moon made him feel at home. He saw the golden fur and instinctively knew it was Goldenfire. He quietlt sneaked up not making a sound. He hid in the bushes to see Goldenfire and Sorrowsleave talking to a unfamiliar cat.
He decided to come on out and confront them. "What are you doing here? And who is that? She smells of dog and...... kittypet." he meowed softly. He had always known what kittypet smelled like, but never seen one. The wind pushed once more and chilled him to his heart. He had no love for anyone, including himself. "Get her out of here. You know we don't let trespassers go through." He meowed coldly.

What? She was a trespasser and suddenly she was called a "kittypet"? What did that even mean? Sasha's eyes looked towards the new cat. He looked exactly like the other two, but this one didn't speak like them. He was colder, and much more stricter. Sasha's heart increased it's tempo. Goldenfire and Sorrowsleave may not attack her, but the other one seemed like he wouldn't hesitate. And she didn't have the strength to walk much farther in this cold, let alone defend herself from three adult cats who say that she had trespassed. Who knows how far she'd have to walk to be considered safe. Would she even make it then? Would he simply kill her?
Sasha shifted her hind-paws again, unsure about her own safety. The wind tugged at her fur with the piercing chill, almost as if to push her out of the meager shelter of the tree roots. She got up to her paws shakily and padded slowly out of the roots, keeping her eyes fixed on the forest cats. The moon's light seemed to chill her more as it touched her pelt. She felt she could freeze right on the spot. Her paws and belly stung as the cold stole the comfortable warmth from them. Sasha had realized that she was practically numb everywhere else compared to the terrible burn she felt at the places that were previously warm.
The wind softened to a gentle breeze, ruffling her thin fur much more easily than the forest cats'. She wouldn't dare move. One step and she thought she'd collapse. She tensed her muscles as a sad attempt to keep warm. Her blue eyes looked to the cats pleadingly. "I've been traveling for days. I've lost my home and all that I had with it: My friends, my owners," My food, she thought to herself, "I have nothing left now. Please let my stay in this root. Please," her desperation welled up inside of her, triggering tears to fall down freely once again, "I'm no threat to you. I just want to stay in this root. I'll leave in the morning if this territory is so precious to you, just don't let me go back in the forest at night! Please, don't..." She found it difficult to say those words. Her chin seemed like it didn't want to move at all. Not to mention that her breathing became shallow and quick, so every word was almost between breaths.

"I won't kill you!" he snapped. He knew this cat was cold, hungry and afraid. Just like him when he was a kit. Thrown into the water to die. He calmed down and closed his eyes in thought. "It's not my decision on whether you can stay or not, but be wary of patrols if you do. Goldenfire what should we do?" he meowed. The pale moon was gleaming in the sky. He knew that he had to apologize to the cat. "I'm sorry for my actions, I wasn't thinking straight." he meowed. He didn't know where this compassion had come from. He only thought he was a cold gloomy cat that hated everything.
